A large two storey extension and reburbishment of an existing villa in the Scottish Borders.
The villa sits on the edge of a valley, deep in the rolling countryside and has very fine south-west facing views. The extension establishes a new entry sequence and provides kitchen/garden room accomodation at ground floor level with a new masterbedroom and amenities above. The masterbedroom is accessed via both a secret stair and a link bridge and has a large sheltered balcony overlooking the landscape, accessed through triple sliding glazed doors and sheltered under an extensive projecting canopy. The cross-laminated timber structure is exposed as a finish internally and clad in stained larch boards externally. The garden room has a sandstone floor and a wood-burning stove held on a purposed-designed precast hearth. The project provides specific glazed connections with the landscape in all directions.
Completed in August 2019.
