Hailes Gardens

Refurbishment and extension of a single storey sub-urban villa to provide a stair up to new loft accommodation, remodel the kitchen-dining spaces and extend into the rear garden to gain a new family room and utility space to include a bio-fuel boiler.

The design focuses on retaining the integrity of the existing villa: the new oak stair drops into existing hall space as a piece of furniture and new internal additions are finished with oak joinery. The rear extension becomes a timber framed and clad volume that projects deep into the south-facing garden via a protruding timber deck and canopy roof for shade.
